FAQs

  • Up to two people: one passenger in the sidecar, and another passenger on the pillion (rear seat) of the motorcycle. We cannot take more than two passengers at a time.

  • Yes. By law, you must wear a helmet that is certified for use on our roads, and we provide helmets in a range of sizes. Our helmets have a built-in audio system so you can hear and speak to your guide throughout the tour.

We provide a freshly laundered liner for every passenger to wear under the helmet. This protects your hair and skin from contact with the inside of the helmet. We clean and sanitise our helmet visors and straps immediately after every use.

Prefer to wear your own helmet? No worries! If you already have a motorcycle helmet that meets NSW Government requirements you are welcome to wear that instead. It will be a bit harder to communicate with your guide while we’re on the road, but we’ll work it out.

  • Of course. We’ll stop at some scenic spots for photo ops and to enjoy the sights, but let us know if something else catches your eye along the way. It’s your ride.

  • Absolutely. Our tours are personalised by design. We love tailoring our tours to the things that interest you the most.

  • No worries! You don’t need any prior experience, and your guide will explain everything you need to know.

Riding in a sidecar, or on the back of a motorcycle attached to a sidecar, is stable, smooth, and somehow relaxing as well as exciting. Thank you for trusting us with your first ride!

  • Dress for the weather, and the activity. Sidecar tours are outdoor activities and we strongly recommend wearing sunscreen on any exposed skin. If you will be riding on the back of the motorcycle at any time during the tour, you must wear long pants and sturdy, enclosed shoes.

We will provide an approved motorcycle helmet. We will also provide a motorcycle jacket and gloves. Our helmets have clear, fold-down face screens and drop-down sun visors, and are compatible with most sunglasses and spectacles. We also provide freshly laundered liners for each passenger to wear under our helmets and gloves.

  • We want your tour to be safe, comfortable, and memorable for all the right reasons—and that starts with a helmet that fits your head. Here’s how to measure your head (or someone else’s) so we can match you with the right size.

Measure around your head, just above your eyebrows and ears and around the widest part at the back. That’s the sweet spot for helmet sizing. If you have a tailor’s measuring tape, go ahead and use that.

No measuring tape? No worries. Grab something like a phone charging cable, a piece of string, or a hoodie drawstring. Wrap it around your head as above, then measure the length with a ruler, tape measure, or even your smartphone:

    • iPhone: the Measure app is built in on all iPhones running iOS 12 or later

    • Android: try free apps like AR Ruler or Photo Ruler from the Google Play Store.

Pro tip: Measure twice to be sure. We believe in you—but use your head.

  • Want to relive your ride? Just add a memories video to your tour booking and we’ll make a beautifully edited 4- to 5-minute highlight reel of your private tour—all shot on our 360° camera.

We’ll capture and cut together the best bits: the iconic views, the wall-to-wall grins, and the waves from strangers as you roll by in style. It’s part moving postcard, part time machine—your very own slice of Sidecar Hustle to share, show off, or just keep for yourself. Because some things are just too good not to replay.

We’ll send you a private link to access your memories video within 1 to 2 weeks of your tour.

  • We ride in most weather—but not all weather. If it’s just a bit chilly or raining lightly, the tour will go ahead. But if the guide decides that the weather is not safe to ride, we will reschedule your tour, or give you a full refund. Please see our cancellation policy for more information.

  • You’re never too old to enjoy a sidecar, but some people are too young.

Children must be at least 8 years old to ride with us. Children aged 8 to 17 years must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Yes. Each passenger must weigh no more than 100kg (220 pounds).

To ride comfortably in the sidecar, you must fit in the seat, which is 45cms (~18 inches) wide.

To ride safely on the back of the motorcycle, your feet must reach the footpegs.

  • There are many vantage points to enjoy the sights of Sydney at sunrise and sunset, and we would love to take you to see them, but most of our tours are designed to be enjoyed during the day.

  • We welcome passengers with disability. Please let us know when booking if you need any specific adjustments to help you enjoy the ride. Unfortunately, for safety reasons, our rides are not suitable for everyone. See ‘who can ride’ for more information about these restrictions.

  • Payment is due at the time of booking, using our online system. We accept most major credit cards and EFTPOS transfers. We cannot accept payment in cash for our tours.

  • Our cancellation policy describes how to cancel or reschedule your tour and when, and how, we provide refunds. Just send an email to tours@sidecarhustle.com.au and let us know what you need. Depending on how much notice you give us, there may be a fee to change or cancel your booking. We cannot provide refunds for cancellations or no shows with less than 4 hours’ notice.

  • Your tour will start and end at an agreed meeting point. Most of our tours start or end at one of three locations:

We can also arrange to pick you up or drop you off from your hotel, or another place in the Sydney central business district where it is safe for us to park the sidecar. We may charge an additional fee to pick you up or drop you off somewhere outside the city centre.
